Presidential Term Limits: I've been saying it for years...

Those who know me know that I'm completely convinced that Bush will make some attempt to stay in power beyond his second term. What's below may very well be evidence of just that...and some info from a Clinton/Dole debate that passed under my radar. Enjoy.

Thanks to Bob Cesca at the Huffinton Post.

The inscription noting the duration of Bush's presidential term doesn't read "2001-2009." It reads "2001-BLANK." In other words, the statue says he's going to be president from 2001 through infinity! Everyone knows that Bush is supposed to leave office in January of 2009. No mystery. No uncertainty. The 22nd Amendment makes it so. It's the law. No gray area.

Or is there?

Excerpt from a June 8, 2003, debate between Bob Dole and Bill Clinton on presidential term limits

Remember: It was the Republicans, in 1947, who pushed the 22nd Amendment through the Congress. It should also be noted that FDR based the necessity of his 3rd and 4th terms on the need for a stable government in the chaos that was WWII. George Washington said that "term limits would exclude from the presidency a man whose leadership might be essential in a time of emergency." I'm sure you will hear this quote used excessively during the course of the next two years.
